dataARCS has deployed WebDrive on the Data Fabric to make using our national file system even more convenient for those using the Windows operating system.

WebDrive links a computer with the Data Fabric as a mapped network drive on a Windows desktop. With WebDrive deployed, Data Fabric users can more quickly and easily access and edit files. Accessing group and shared research data is now as easy as opening a file or folder on a local PC.

The software also can connect users to other WebDAV servers, including Box.net, Dropbox, filesanywhere, Mobile Me and myDisk. Mac and Linux users do not require WebDrive because the operating systems already have in-built tools for this purpose.

To download WebDrive, you must be a registered Data Fabric user.

New Data Fabric users: If you’re not already registered for the Data Fabric, click here to quickly subscribe to ARCS. Registering with ARCS automatically subscribes you to the Data Fabric.

You must have an authorised identity provider (IdP) to register for ARCS services. You can use your institutional IdP if it’s listed with our Access Service. Otherwise, you can easily apply for an ARCS identity.

Once you have registered, you will automatically be taken to the ARCS Services page. Here, you will find the Download WebDrive button. As a new registrant, please wait five minutes before clicking on this button, which will take you to a page where you can download WebDrive to your desktop for free.

Existing Data Fabric users: To download WebDrive, simply log in to ARCS. From the Services page, click the Download WebDrive button. This will take you to a page where you can download WebDrive to your desktop for free.
