Importing your Certificate into Mozilla Firefox

Go to your Firefox Preferences window, by selecting it from the Edit menu. Select Advanced, select the Encryption tab. Ensure that the Select one automatically radio button is checked, then click View Certificates.

Select the Your Certificates tab and Click the Import button.

Point the following file open dialog window to the .globus folder in your home directory.

  • On Windows this would be something like: C:\Documents and Settings\Your Username\.globus.
  • On Linux this should be /home/Your Username/.globus. You may not be able to see the .globus directory because it is hidden. In this case, navigate to your home directory, press Ctrl-H (Ctrl-key along with the H-key to show hidden files and folders) and find the .globus directory.

Now select the file usercert.p12 and press the OK button. Enter the passphrase you used to create the certificate. Press the OK button.

You should then see the following message box.

Congratulations, your certificate has now been imported.

Setting a Master Password

Once you import your certificate, you will need to set yourself a Master Password. The master password will protect your imported certificate with a password, to prevent any unauthorised use. You cannot use newly imported certificate for signing, until you have created the Firefox master password.

Open the Preferences window in Firefox from the Edit menu. Select Security, and then click the Use a master password check box.

Please enter a master password of at least 12 characters to comply with the APACGrid certificate policy. You may use the same passphrase as the one you used to create your APACGrid certificate, if you like.
