Grisu - a desktop GUI for easy Grid Compute

Grisu Model

Grisu is an framework or architure that provides a simple means to build an application specific GUI for a user to use on their desktop.

End users of the grid often need dedicated GUI tools that can be customised to their particular requirments. Grisu is designed to accept easily written "plugins" that implement those customisations. It features -

  • Appropriate labels associated with input and outputs files.
  • Buttons and fields to select the options associated with the application.
  • Checks and constraints to ensure that selected options are sane.
  • End user who will be using the existing ARCS Grisu infrastracture see the install page or download your copy of the client from http://grisu.arcs.org.au/downloads/beta/current/grisu.zip Watch here for new releases.
  • Developers and System Administrators, please see http://grisu.arcs.org.au for more details. You will see regular news updates there too.

Grisu and Underworld
Grisu allows you to define a viewer for the particular application, shown here is the output being displayed from the popular geodynamics application, Underworld.

It should be noted that the file transfer means that Grisu uses at present does limit its usefulness with in situations where there are a large number of (typically smaller) files.
